Unfortunately, as proved in many other aspects of society, many people today do not have any common sense, so just do not know when to stop.
The sensible ones amongst us, many of who have been drunk on a Saturday night in town, have made their way home quietly via the kebab shop and caused no problem to anyone. It is not a money issue, it is a behaviour issue and being responsible for your own actions.

Re: Drinking ....
Now it's not your fault if they have no sense of humour.
I always walked away when they asked if I wanted 'sore finger'.

Is it not harder to buy it underage from Asda than the local off licence?

I had the same reaction in the Chinese chippy at the top end of Ossy when I asked for a ton of chips and a battered whale

Re: Drinking ....
We bought cider from the local newsagent and he knew we were underage. He used to warn us though, if he saw any of us drinking on the street or staggering about he would personally go and tell our parents. As for smashing bottles in the street, we wouldn't dare do that, not because of what the police would do but because the people around us would tell our parents and then we would really suffer. These days people are frightened to get involved as many parents have lost the art of discipline. That is not a ritual beating but the skilled removal of something we enjoyed (no not teeth!).

Hide up the Coppice or in the Park accyman, I used to hide in the tap room in the Bay Horse in Ossy myself before going to a Methodist Youth Club Beni
