Driving test...languages available
Jumping from another thread about Driving test records going missing got me to wondering how many languages you can take your driving test in the UK other than English , the following is from my local Californian DMV (Dept. of Motor Vehicle) website , and shows the choices available ......
"Besides English, the basic Class C written driver license exam is also available in the following languages:
Amharic, Arabic, Armenian, Cambodian, Chinese, Croatian, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hmong, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Laotian, Persian/Farsi, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Romanian, Russian, Samoan, Spanish, Tagalog/Filipino, Thai, Tongan, Turkish, and Vietnamese.
Besides English, the basic Class C audio driver license exam is also available in the following languages:
Armenian, Chinese/Mandarin, Hindi, Hmong, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish, and Vietnamese"
I think the practical test is English only , (though translators are allowed ) , considering that lots of British people now drive overseas in countries where English is not spoken do you think its ok to allow the written test to be in languages other than English . Do the Brits who retire to Spain get to take their tests in English ? (or if you are a Canuck, English or French)
