Re: dropped in street

I lost £600 just before christmas a few years ago and I know how it felt then, i was absolutely gutted (my own stupid fault for carrying money around like that but it was to pay off what I owed on my car)

Yes i would hand it in. If after handing it in and its not claimed then it becomes yours anyway. I think its 3 months after.

Re: dropped in street

My mum found a wallet with a few hundred pounds in it and handed it in to Sittingbourne police station and was told if no-one claimed it in a certain amount of time she was entitled to keep it......it wasn't claimed and all she got was the wallet.
my step father had a go at her and said she should have kept it.

If it was in a wallet i would put a sign up saying 'wallet found' with my phone number and if someone rang id ask for a description,if the description was correct and the contents matched then i would give it back.
If it was in a plastic bag and nothing else then i would probably keep it.

BTW this business man-do we know he dropped this money or do we not?

Yes definitely.......£1000 is a lot of money to lose. My conscience would not let me keep it.

Re: dropped in street

Sorry but if somebody drops a grand in my lap then i'm keeping it.
Sorry if that sounds greedy or lacking in morals but at least i'm honest.

Has anybody else besides Emzy ever lost a large amount of money? I am sure if it were to happen to you your opinions on keeping it would change.

No i have never lost a large sum of money but i would try not to have that amount of money on me in the first place.
I think you are asking for trouble personally,it's not worth the risk.

I should imagine most people would avoid carrying so much money with them. But if they do and it is lost what right has anybody to keep it?? We all know it isn't our money to keep.
