Drunk driver who fled from police gets 25 to life

I know I may have a bit of a reputation as a 'hang em high" type , but maybe this is a bit harsh even though there are extenuating circumstances , a guy in the next county to me has just got 25 to life for drunk driving , in all probability he will only do about 10 yrs

Drunk driver who fled from police gets 25 to life

what do you folks think ?

"convicted previously of causing a fatal crash while driving drunk "

He should never be let out again. He's a danger to others and not the sort who would let a little thing like a driving ban stop him getting in a car whilst drunk and killing someone else. 10 years is definitely not long enough.

People like this seem to think they are above the law if left to walk free they just carry on offending. He deserves to serve all the sentence IMO.

It goes to show the legal system over there is as crap as it is here. 25 years should mean 25 years.

Cool Re: Drunk driver who fled from police gets 25 to life

I’ve always thought that the three strikes and you’re out with 25 to life law was a bit on the harsh side but if that’s the law then there is no more to be said.

His record shows that he had scant regard for the law so now he has a long, long while to think things through.

His sentence could also have a sobering effect on others and make them think twice as they come out of court/prison for the second time.

Yes i think any one that drink,s and drive,s and kill,s some one should get life and that would stop them drinking and driveing.

Re: Drunk driver who fled from police gets 25 to life

The three strikes and you're out law is harsh. However in this case I believe justice has been served, he killed one and injured 2 people in 1988, whilst drinking and driving (and only served one year?). This time he was racing at 120 mph would have killed anyone he hit in his inebriated state therefore it's his third offence.

What shocked me though was that drink driving is only a MISDEMEANOUR in California, WTF are they playing at. comments stating check your alcohol level when you feel sober after 2 pints are unreal. I thought USA had a strong anti drink culture.
