end of an era
i see lard de dars is never going to open again as it is going to be turned into flats . i hope the people who are going to live there they are going to be asked for proper references and its not going to be turned into a inner town slum .. weve got enough no go areas in accy ..back to subject who else thinks it was mismanaged and not marketed in the right way.i think their downfall was the hiring of thugs as so called doormen and letting all the chavs in [should of banned brown rockports

Re: end of an era
Never really a fan of Lardees, though it was a novelty when it first opened. The last time i went i noticed that as well as thugs on the door, one or two were walking round the club handing out random swipes at other club goers.Found Churchills a better club, but alas that went the same way.

Re: end of an era
I only ever went in there once and that must have been 20 years or so ago. Not really my cup of tea.

yea your right lets hope that somebody reading this gets the message .get thugs on you door they attract thugs and ship will be well and truly sunk.churchills used to be good at the beginning then they put some thugs on the door who let all the chavs in.it might have looked full somtimes but chavs dont spend money they are mostly drug addicts and thieves so they wouldnt have spent much money they just tried to intimidate people so the people who spent the real money just left .. lesson learnt anybody

Re: end of an era
Surprised it lasted so long with punters going out of town. Never did go to Churchhills as it had no appeal and I "emigrated" up here. As for flats that wont work considering any person in one might want peace which they wont get.

Re: end of an era
I remember going in the late 80's early 90's, thursday nights were trendy dance nights and saturday night was, how many laps we could do walking round the dance floor

Re: end of an era
I also used to go to Lardee's late 80's early 90's, went most Saturdays and everyone dressed up then, we used to spend most of the night walking round also. Used to like Churchills, good music and good for a boogie, after that Voodoo Lounge and Bridge for cheesy 80's unfortunately Accy town gone down hill now, as for the flats I think the idea is to sell them to young trendies not chavs.

Re: end of an era
I only went twice. Not really my bag. Too much dancing round your handbag.
I remember when it first opened, they used to advertise on television, on the newly broadcast Channel 4, which was presumably cheap.
The advert went something like this.
'New York. Paris. Milan, and now Accrington. Come to La-di-dahs.'
