Energy-Saving Tips? Where?
An expensive looking magazine, which is free called Link came through my door today,
One article on page 9 has the bold heading:-
Energy-Saving Tips
So I thought I would share them with you,
eco kettle £29.50
It allows you to measure the exact water each time.
Excuse me so does a cup and I can get 2 of them for a pound!
Standby energy-saving kit £24.95
Allows you to turn appliances on and off from 30 metres away!
To get 30 metres away from any appliance in my house I would probably have to catch a bus!
Standby Buster starter kit £14.95
A remote controlled 13 amp socket!
All of my sockets have little red switches, on/off easy peasy no wasting energy hunting for a remote it's always there on the socket!
Intellipanel for televisions £19.89
A bank of sockets that when you turn off your T.V. your DVD/Digi box goes off as well.
Excuse me? they have their own on/off switches, how difficult is it to press each one?
So for a total expenditure of £89.29
I or you, can have lots of new gadgets made out of plastic, using up the oil resources with God knows how many more batteries that would need to be replaced in the controllers and to save how much energy?
It doesn't tell you that!

Re: Energy-Saving Tips? Where?
Haha fantastic Less. Some people will try and make money out of anything, yet doesn't stand up to any logic at all as you proved!

Re: Energy-Saving Tips? Where?
I agree that all but one of the gadgets mentioned is a waste.
When it comes to kettles - there is a lot of energy wasted heating more water than is
needed. I could just put one cup of water in the kettle at a time but is anyone doing that?
When my kettle needed replacing I got a Tefal One-cup model.
I like it because it removes the need for me to lift a kettle of boiling water, (which is a hazard due to loss of grip), and I dont need to wait for it to boil, because it is hot 'on tap', and only needs filling up once a day.
PS I didn't pay that much for it after googling

I can go with that if and when my kettle needs replacing, I'll consider a smaller kettle, after all I don't have a family here anymore but until it goes I'll put a cup of water in it's all I need.

Re: Energy-Saving Tips? Where?
Like the settee idea.....
You could always pop round to a neighbours and get them to make you a brew, ın the process just turn the main swıtch off. saves turnıng off all those gadgets

Re: Energy-Saving Tips? Where?
I wonder who funded Link?
It wouldn’t have been the manufacturers of all the gadgets perchance, would it?
