the councilors system is a joke anyway there shouldnt be party involvment theres no need for it.What should happen is people put tehir name forward to be elected without the stigma of a party name to effect things and teh best person gets elected

a big pluss would be no outside party interference and orders from teh local mp or party headquaters to do or vote a paricular way

without paty politics something of worth might get done to sort out this town but as it stands no matter who comes up with it the opposing party will vote gainst it out of pure spite or orders from higher up.

its actually sickening to think how much this town has suffered because red and blue would rather score points over each other than get something positive done

i have no doubt every if not most councils are ran by petty minded people unable to do the right thing and work together and put party allegance aside

councils dont need to be political they simply need to have a group of people who can work together

I've said that for years, even when I was involved, there should be no politics in local government, but it won't happen. The thing is that Westminster defines who is in power in most places, even Hyndburn when Labour were in government we had a Tory council, now we have a Tory government we have a labour council pure and simple and any councilor who tries to say different truly is in cloud cuckoo land, notice how the councilors who were so vociferous whilst in opposition come nowhere near now, that speaks for itself really

What is going on in Hyndburn at the moment is ridiculous, its very rarely you read the observer at weekend where there hasn't been a spat between the parties, if they'd get down of their high moral platform and do exactly what they were elected to do, SURVE THE PEOPLE, we might see an improvement in the borough, but they just carry on squabbling scoring points play one upmanship, until this stops nobody wins

Well in that case they ain't learnt much have they, they've had plenty of tips on how to do it reight

the odd thing is when these councilors are out and about having their pictures taken with clean up crews and planting of trees etc they look so happy and jolly

perhaps they should take some of that happy and jolly into the town hall instead of just pulling it out for a few mins here and tehre for the cameras
