Now how damn stupid do you have to be not to realize that the crap Rotten Ronnie serves up will pile on the pounds.

I know it's a wander, but it's not worth a thread of its own. Reminds me of my favorite cigarette warning ... you know, the one that informs you that fags are addictive.
Yes, the Nanny didn't leave, when that Mrs. Thatcher got ousted.

We have an even stricter Nanny now. Who assumes we are mentally deficient, and treats us accordingly.

As well as telling us too many beef burgers makes you into a big fat piggy, she's full of other useful advice too.

She also pops her head through bedroom windows, and screams
'What you dirty pair are doing now makes babies!'

Dear Nanny State.

She's so wise, and certainly knows what's best for us all.

And some idiot over here wants to put a warning on beer labels ... No, not one that says that too many of them will make you a little tipsy ... but a "gluten" warning. Ok all of us (except for Bee who is underage) realize that beer contains barley, even American beer (well, maybe not Coors Lite).

There seem to be talents that females master better than the male and also the opposite.

However, this paper chasing world of ours that claims we shouldn't allow a woman to be a woman, a man to be a man, seems to interfere with the two sexes actually getting on with each other.

As soon as I open a door for a woman, I'm being patronising, as soon as she shows her independence because she doesn't need a door opening for her, she's being a threat to masculinity.

In actual fact there are differences and as old fashioned as it may seem, I would rather open a door for a 'Lady', than leave it to slap in her face, but sometimes we are left with the man wondering will she be insulted? and the woman wondering, will he be insulted?
Well let's put these thoughts and differences to one side and realise,
It's so much nicer if a man can treat a woman as a lady than to have her insist on 'complete' independance.
What a great post Less, I don't think anybody in their right mind can fault what you've said (but there will) I never changed my attitude towards women, even when some decided to join Ms Greer and burnt their bras. There never has been anything wrong in opening a door for a lady or giving up your seat on a bus, walking on the outside on the footpath, and genuinely making a woman feel special, that's the way I was brought up and never saw any reason to change

Re: Equal Opportunities

Equal opportunitys does exactly the opposite. By asking peoples coluor, sexuality etc on application forms this ensures that these issues are taken into account, therefore discriminating against people that dont fit the criteria....for example employers must employ so many ethnics, disabled etc so joe bloggs might not get the job simply because the employer must employ someone of different colour etc.....equal mi ass

When I wired my new electric shower up I held the bathroom door open for my wife and insisted she be the first to try It.

So despite all the financial pressures and the cutbacks on essential spending, HBC can still commit resources to producing this nonsense.

Re: Equal Opportunities

As to the "usual rubbish about equal opportunities" I'd say that's a fairly accurate way of putting it -in most cases it's not what you know but who you know that counts...

Close, but no cigar: It's not who you know, but who you (rhymes with "know")

Of course I do ... Except for the winter months when I drive an old, beat up Chev Suburban ... a big V8, 4 wheel drive with a winch on the front ... great for busting down snow banks I'm just a crude V8 kinda guy .... I never got into those 'green' pork and bean can things. Of course, we don't pay as much for gas as the poor sods in the UK do.

“We need to ensure that we are not unwittingly discriminating by doing something that disadvantages to benefit one group of people over another.”

What a big buch of hollyhocks!

Since we already have laws on our statute books, to prevent discrimination on every conceivable ground, do we really need all this guff in local government?

If Hyndburn Borough Council carry out their business to the letter of the law, they'll be discriminating against no one.

I wonder how much time, and money's being put in to this, in order for H.B.C. to achievie 'excellence in providing an equal service' status?

I'm begining to have flashbacks, that I'm still living in loony Lambeth, or Liverpool again.

Let's hope we get a nice framed award.

Showing just how pathetically liberal we are.
