Re: Equal Opportunities
I can just imagine a senior HR employee saying to the junior.....
"place this ad for and anaesthetist will you, and just add the usual rubbish about equal opportunities etc."
It has probably come verbatim from the person who ordered the ad to be placed hehehehe.........

Re: Equal Opportunities
Let's just hope they give the job to someone on the basis of their experience and qualifications to act as an anaesthetist.
Not because it evens up the hospital's quota of one-legged lesbian post-operative transsexuals, seeking political asylum whilst awaiting the removal of their name from the child sex register in accordance with the European Union's Human Rights legislation.....

Re: Equal Opportunities
No doubt someone will let me know, but I so far haven't really seen equal opportunities.
We have laws in place to make sure that adverts are equal in their opportunity.
But are we equal?
There seem to be talents that females master better than the male and also the opposite.
However, this paper chasing world of ours that claims we shouldn't allow a woman to be a woman, a man to be a man, seems to interfere with the two sexes actually getting on with each other.
As soon as I open a door for a woman, I'm being patronising, as soon as she shows her independance because she doesn't need a door opening for her, she's being a threat to masculinity.
In actual fact there are differences and as old fashioned as it may seem, I would rather open a door for a 'Lady', than leave it to slap in her face, but sometimes we are left with the man wondering will she be insulted? and the woman wondering, will he be insulted?
Well let's put these thoughts and differences to one side and realise,
It's so much nicer if a man can treat a woman as a lady than to have her insist on 'complete' independance.

Re: Equal Opportunities
"Usual rubbish" seem pretty tame ... could have been "usual bs". Personally, I don't see to much wrong with affirmative action; it's what happens to it when it gets in the hands of the wrong kind of folks ... the ultra-pc crowd. Ironically, this leads to "tokenism", which is the silly side of positive affirmative action.

Re: Equal Opportunities
I quote from the BBC story referenced:
"A trust spokeswoman said: "The wording on this advert in no way reflects the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust's position in relation to equal opportunities, to which it is fully committed.
"The trust is conscious of its duty to promote equality and is a Stonewall Diversity Champion employer. "
Of immeadiate concern is the fact that it is a 'spokeswoman', and not a spokesperson who has made the response - hypocracy in itself; but far more importantly is this reference to Stonewall. As far as I understand, this is an organisation for the botty-bashing brigade. Exactly what role they are playing in the management of this acute hospital I do not know, but it would appear to me that patient care should have priority over accommodating this mob.

Re: Equal Opportunities
Equal opportunities should be available to all.

It's outrageous that some are barred from doing various medical jobs, just because they're from a different species.

Still up in the air.
Their unions still in talks with them.
There's a problem, as Expedia don't offer the same benefits package to same sex monkey couples.
It could mean bananas.

I think that "spokeswoman" and "spokesman" are fine ... this way you know whether some stupid bitch is speaking, or some dumb asshole ... (I realize that "asshole" is somewhat gender neutral; but I couldn't use "dumb p...." )

Now how damn stupid do you have to be not to realize that the crap Rotten Ronnie serves up will pile on the pounds.
