You have a kindred soul with my son who lives near Manchester. He visited me yesterday and we had quite a heated conversation. As a child in primary school he had three "best" friends who were Asian, then in secondary school Domino from Chile was his buddy and his car mechanic is an Asian, thus his current attitude towards the government, the EU and immigration seemed out of character.
I think the massive annual migration numbers and how they've changed the fabric of our historic English lifestyle hit him when he visited my home town a few months ago. He hadn't been back since his grandparents died several decades ago and it's not an industrial town which attracts off shore strangers. I remember he came back quite buoyed up about the friendliness of the natives in the street and yesterday he remarked about the difference in the shop signage where none of them had little squiggles above the windows but were written in English with English names he recognised; such as Fletcher Grocery Store, Smith Butchers, etc.
