Eye eye, it's an assault.

A bizarre story caught my eye in today's Observer.

A man has been dismissed from his one million pounds per annum job in the city, by HSBC.

He's taking his former employer to tribunal for unfair dismissal, on the grounds of sex discrimination, and is seeking five million pounds damages.

His crime?

He looked at another man whilst at the company gym.

The whole thing seems madness.

So do be warned not to look at anyone in a funny way, at least until the outcome of this case is known, in case you get a visit from the police.

How the flippin heck can a glance be harrassment? Has the world gone totally mad? We'll all be walking around wearing dark glasses in a bit so nobody can see our eyes. Oh no! Then we'll probably end up bumping into someone because we can't see them and be done for touching them.

Re: Eye eye, it's an assault.

It does seem most strange.

I'm a really nosey person, and love nothing more than people watching, but I never considered it to be sexual harassment.

What next, the nation's barmaids sueing the men that may glance at them when they buy a pint?
