Falklands will it happen again

As people demonstrate and riot in Buenos aeries, and we remember the dead from the first falklands campaign thirty years ago. Are we heading for war again with Argentina, and if we are is it worth fighting over? If Argentina do invade will we fight or is the time for colonial outposts gone forever.

Don't think the Argies have the forces to fight their way out of a paper bag. As for whether it's worth fighting over, everyone who lives there wants to stay British and you can't put a price on democracy.

Anyway, there's oil there!

Re: Falklands will it happen again

I doubt Argentina would attempt any armed invasion, at the same time I doubt our armed forces could respond as they did in 1982, our own defence cuts have been constant since then.

Britain will give the Falklands to the Argentinians when they, as descendants of Spanish colonialists, give Argentina back to the indigenous people of South America.

The fact is that the Falklands have never been Argentinian. Their only claim is based on geographical location.

That sums things up very well to me.

Our own armed forces wouldn't need to respond as they did in 1982. The Argies have whittled their defences away to practically nothing since that time. Their only hope is to persuade other Latin countries to join them in trade war. These countries might pay lip service but as most of 'em don't really like the Argies, they won't sign up to any embargoes in a hurry. Don't worry, our oil...sorry, fellow British citizens...are safe!
