Festive Drinking.

It seems that the spirit of Christmas has gone to the heads of some and considering what could have happened its shocking. Two 13 year old girls supposedly at a junior disco are found in the snow passed out with drink and very little clothing let alone warm clothing. The police found them and they were taken to hospital with Hypothermia. One of these little girls was unconcious for 6 hours. How did the get full of drink in the first place if at a junior disco and secondley I wonder if this is now to be a badge of honour and thirdley why did their parents let them out in summer clothing when temps were down to minus six.

I have a niece there age and my cousins lassie is their age yet they would never get away with it. Is it peer pressure or do they want to make themselves out as older than they are. Its frightening to think that children are getting to do these stupid things proberly with their parents having an idea of whats going on.

And these two will probably end up pushing a pram around sooner than anyone expected.

Re: Festive Drinking.

About a week ago I was at the Rawtenstall bus-stop in Accy and about 3 lads were there, couldnt have been over 11.
They were all smoking (even if they were takin 2 drags from their Marlboro lites before burning the bus stop windows with them) and talking about getting wasted off a £4 bottle of vodka they had in this carrier bag...
Now I like a drink and have done since my last year at school but in my opinion me and my mates are all responsible enough to deal with the consequences of drinking and so dont take it too far, yet these senseless 11 yr olds make me very sad at the state of the future of Britain.

Re: Festive Drinking.

This sort of thing happens all the time unfortunately. Older kids/adults are comandereed into buying them booze. Kids stand outside most off licences begging even on occasion threatening people to go in the shop to buy them booze. As for clothing you find a shop that sells 'girls' clothes rather than young adults, it's not easy. Parents are roped into buying fashion gear because there are few sensible clothes to be had.
When my daughter was 11 she went out 'on the front' she was gone no longer than an hour. She didn't walk in the door she fell in vomiting everywhere & wetting herself it emerged that some older kids were on the corner drinking alcohol which they shared with her. She had drunk a bottle of white lightning and a can of extra strong lager! I wont repeat on a family forum what I said to her.

I would hope that in the case of adults, that they reported the matter to the police as soon as possible.
Where do we go from here

Re: Festive Drinking.

I will go no wear near my local chippy or shop after 19:00 on a Friday and Saturday as I have to run the guantlet of the local 13 and 14 year old alkies. They know I wont buy it them yet they keep asking me in the hope I relent. If I was to catch an adult buying it I would drop them in it. As for the kids pooring the booze away was easy at one time but now there are too many of them. It is unfortunately going to need a run of deaths for this to stop. It is considered to be a hard man/woman to be drinking at 13/14.
