found out! mr shahs paper shop on lonsdale street +3 houes adjoining it have gone up in flames roof looks like it will cave in?

I really hope everyone got out in time! It sounds a bit like a gas explosion if so many properties are involved. So how did you find out staggers??

Those Houses are empty and come under the phenix project so they were being pulled down anyway .
It was probably kids setting fires ,or the fire service themelves using the empty houses as a training exercise as they have done in Rutland st for the last few days

Have they really done that, whilst on active service?

I hope lives weren't put at risk whilst they practised.

It's not the same as being on stand by at the fire station, because they won't be able to leave the fire unattended once they have started it.

yeah it was ormerod st around 2am last nite

i was finishin work in darwen and coming home and it was all blocked off - it was almost over by the time i got there. quite alot of fire engines and cops had closed down the road.
i dotn think it was the paper shop - it was on the opposite side of the road - where the houses are. the roof had definatly caved in
