Re: Fireworks Petition

Signed, not only are fireworks a pain in the backside for residents but also a strain on our emergency services.

Re: Fireworks Petition

Eleven o'clock last night and it started again. Fortunately, only a couple last night not the full blown display.

I think they've got more money than sense!

Re: Fireworks Petition

Im with A-B on this bit in between cos banning it would spoil a great tradition for kids & when they are done right & safely they are lovely to watch, but am against the idiots setting fireworks off by mis-use, lack of supervision & really inappropiate times like early hrs in the morning another numpty at 3.30am set some off. Keep it to the bonfire weekend & new year but not ages before i think shops & wholesalers have no need to sell them before 3rd of nov.

Re: Fireworks Petition

So, as usual, it's down to the Police to enforce the law. But alas they are too busy lolling around in their expensive cars waiting to catch anyone doing a fraction over the speed limit.

Looks like the fire work season is just going to contine getting longer and longer!

Re: Fireworks Petition

We used to have the best bonfire when we were kids the whole street used to come to our house and my mum would be in the kitchen making jacket spuds and chestnuts and parkin and alsorts and my dad and my uncle david would be incharge of the fire and the fireworks and we all had a wonderful time i would sit in the bedroom after being sent to bed and watch because we had the back room.

But now things have changed and especially where we live the youths just dont seem to get it the damage they can do!!!

Re: Fireworks Petition

True point yeh there was one of them on our street, i remember collection firewood for it & having jacket spuds & bonfire toffee. Though i think its down to lack of community spirit in some neighbourhoods & some kids are left to their own devices.

Mmm remember going dunkenhalgh display when i was very young & experienced my 1st tub of black peas yum pmsl only place ive known to do them are they traditional bommy food???

Re: Fireworks Petition

Mmmmmmm! Black Peas and Treacle Toffee and home-made potato pie with mushy peas and pickled onions and Parkin... and going on "raids" for firewood and boxes of "Standard" Fireworks which had what looked to be a dragon on the cover and above all the anticipation and excitement as November 5th crept nearer each day. Hoping it wouldn't rain on the night, but not really bothering if it did. Listening to the cobbles cracking underneath the ashes of the fire watching the sparks fly up into the night sky and wondering where they went to. Catherine Wheels and Volcano's and Roman Candles!

How I miss it.

Re: Fireworks Petition

And when it was all over and the fire had died down I asked my dad as he carried me up to bed "When will it be Christmas?"
