I was thinking about how much the kids involved got out of it.
So a few young people got a bit of Saturday afternoon fun........I fail to see how that promotes the town(maybe I'm thick)...especially if all there is to show for it is a poor video clip on You Tube.
And yes Shaz you are right, I have no teenage children....but I can't see how that makes a difference...if something is being done that promotes the town, then all well and good, but in my opinion(and I know that isn't worth a lot)......I think it was just a gimmick, and a gimmick with very little substance which did nothing to promote Accrington........Not a moan, just an observation.

Agree with you hon ... looks like a lot of fun, and I can't see why anyone would want to bitch about it. I would like to see something like that here in Kingston ... maybe on ice, on the rink behind City Hall

wow........... well done Gayle, just read about the flash mob, so miffed I missed it, most definitely would have joined in..........any excuse for a dance, I'll be there!!!
Like the one Steeljack put up. If you go into the details, it was promoted by a professional photographers and media promotors to, no doubt, give them publicity .. had over a million hits on You Tube. The singer, from Chorus Niagara, I am confident received a large donation/payment to their funds and supported by the Canadian Arts Council.
thats were i'm lost, if its supposed to be a spontaneous act, there would not be hours spent before.
There has to be a nucleus of people to get the ball rolling, Cashy.
I think us supporters are banging our head against a brick wall here, it was also about getting young people together to enjoy the camaraderie and team work of a joint effort. Repeated again.
Seems to me some of you are just enjoying your cynicism of who can, over and over again, enter the best put down.
I thought it was great fun and those watching did appreciate the lift it gave Broadway for a short while.
If I were to offer any criticism at all .. I think the routines were a little too complicated to allow the shoppers to join in, but I am just offering it in a constructive way.

That's what I thought the point of these things were. Not the larf had by the dancers, but the ripple effect on the members of the public in attendance. Whether that be people joining in or just turning their heads at what's going on.
Frankly, anything that can brighten up a modern day Accrington town centre, make people pick their dreary eyes up off the dreary cracks in the dreary pavement, is a good thing in my book. Sixteen-hundred-quid seems a very small price to pay for that. There will be many a more useless penny spent in this borough, that's for sure.
shaker theres nowt wrong wi brightening up the day,but from what i gleaned these things don't usually cost townsfolk money, albeit spent by the funds available, is it not correct they are normally done spontaneously?

I'm with you on that one Cashy, £1,600 quid and half of Accy knowing don't equel a flash mob.
I am laughing at half of Accy knowing.
Here are a few publicised flash mobs from Flashmob Home | Flashmob.co.uk and facebook just to show they are only "spontaneous" if you don't know about them.
