Re: Flogging A Dead Horse
Lets play the "read the newspaper story and spot how many mistakes are in it" game
I saw a couple after just a quick read
What I can't understand is if he is the former Friends of Oak Hill boss ( I think they mean Chair ) then why is he not happy the Coach House ( I think they mean band stand ) was rebuilt?
What is it he is complaining about?
Looks like another lazy reporter with half a story

Which newspaper article? I recall the band-stand as it was years ago - a covered stage with electricity supply. So the issue is it burnt down and was replaced with what? Another stage or a coach house? Is there a difference. This demonstrator believes there was a insurance fiddle that was not addressed, I think this is correct. When exactly did it burn down?

I had problem with the council in 2005 and I still don't think I've had justice! So this is why I am backing this chap who is demonstating. I know what these councils are like first hand.

I said I'd not had justice, Councils are a bunch of self serving back scratchers, they can get away with lying - it's a fact Council staff are very rarely held to account for their wrong-doings - the system is set up to protect them.

You feel you have been badly done to, that is obvious from your posts.
The other guy feels badly done to, that is obvious from his protest.
At the end of the day why don't you get together with him over a pint?
Then you can both slag the Council off and the therapy will make you both feel better, but it won't alter a thing, or you can let go, realise the horse really is dead, no matter what, unless one of you gets a lottery win will you be able to change anything.
Remain bitter about your grievance, (possibly ruining your life), or move on, the latter will give you better peace of mind.
(O.K. Claire Rayner is dead, someone must be able to fill the slot, why not me?)

I know it may seem piffling ! But which one is it exactly ? One can be seen as you've had a resolution but don't agree with it, whereas the other means you've had no resolution at all, it can only be one or the other surely ?

There two different buildings Neil. What they have in common is that they both burnt down.

Re: Flogging A Dead Horse
It is all very strange .. ok, a mistake happened ... wow ! that was a huge mistake, and hope employee brought to task for this.
Kestrel: The bandstand burnt down and has been replaced by this:
Oakhill 004.jpg
The Coach House had fire damage in 2004 and insurance claim questioned at the time, even by Graham Jones !! See further comment on this article too:
Police: no fraud in Hyndburn Council insurance claim (From Lancashire Telegraph)
I don't really believe there has been an attempt at fraud, but Mr. Hindley obviously does. Who knows.

Both burnt down that's interesting - was the allegation they were burnt down so the council could claim on the insurance? Notice I say "Alleged!" What was the cause of the fires?
