According to today's Sunday Times, forums like Accrington Web might be at the very epicentre of the forthcoming General Election.
'IT’S a parallel world where David Cameron smacks his daughter, civil servants emerge from No 10 with black eyes and Tony Blair votes for the Tories because he thinks they are on the side of multi-millionaires like him. Welcome to a web election that is using digitally altered posters, video “mash-ups” and internet trickery in what many politicians believe is the future of campaigning'
'It is being fought not by party machines but activists and members of the public on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and other social media sites. Supporters of Labour and the Tories are using Photoshop techniques to hijack party messages and substitute their own attacks instead.' http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/new...cle7043919.ece
This clip was mentionedin the article, so I just had to search it out.
'Probably the battle of Waterloo was won on the playing-fields of Eton, but the opening battles of all subsequent wars have been lost there.'
- George Orwell.
Vive la Revolution...and the part internet forums like Accy Web are playing.

Accy Web has around 250 hard core members, which ain't really going to rock the boat is it
Accyweb membership increases day by day, who knows today Hyndburn tomorrow the world?
Whereas a local Political party is losing members, I've heard it claimed as many as 3 up to present, another 1 and they'll be down to 50% of their total.

...and interestingly at least two of the prospective Conservative candidates for Hyndburn, who haven't even been selected yet, have chosen to join our happy band, here at Accy Web.
So that's two who acknowledge it's usefulness as a means of communication.

Ah, yes but they are proper Tories go where they are told, do as they are told, in fact perfect for the party line.
Not like our home grown heading sharply to the left, militant action? We'll show them militant action, Tories.
By the way what's happened to the local road sweepers? We can't move down town because of all the confetti-like pieces of cardboard spread around the gutters.

Why ever would enyone wish to refer to Mancie's postings on this website? Lets face it, he is the Mr Bean of the Accy Web - very well meaning, but invariably ending up in a muddle and then a disaster.

its true though .. 13 years ago there wasnt many people on the web at home like there is nowadays .. there wasnt local forums as such for people to talk on .. in elections back in the 80s and 90s all you got was the leaflets through your door and what was in the local papers and when people came knocking on your door .. people now have the web to look and find stuff .. local forums and national forums to complain on ..
