FOUND - 2 dogs running loose on Abbey St

Daughter has just had an "adventure" - she came over this morning from Manchester and whilst walking along Abbey Street (around 9.15am/9.30ish) spotted two dogs running "amok", obviously lost and scared
(one black and one mid "blondish" sort of colour)

Do you know of anyone who has lost their two dogs this morning?

They have been taken to a vets for now - ring on 07790 867603 if you think you know who they could belong to.

It was also announced on Radio Lancashire at about 11AM.
Hope they soon get reunited with their owner.

They were taken to Mearley Vets Whalley Road

Possibly a good outcome, however what happened to their collars with a contact number on, or a microchip with full details, don't know if they had or not but it makes recovery a lot easier.

Not all dog owners bother chipping their dogs or puting tags on their collars Dave

Correct! These two cairn terriers did have collars on, but no name on them and unfortunately when the nurse at the vets checked, they were not chipped. I do hope they get collected by their owners later today.

It is a cheap option, and the loss of a dog can be more than just the cost, some charities even chip for free, I have seen special offers at the vets in Clayton for a £10 chip.
On a serious note, it is an offence to have a dog outside the home without a collar and engraved disc attached with contact details.

You need to be on benefit to use PDSA vet services and they offer reduced microchipping during national Microchip month but don't do it free.

Re: FOUND - 2 dogs running loose on Abbey St

The offence is having a dog in a public place without collar and tag with the owners name and address on it. Phone number is not required but advisable. My dogs only have their collars off while in the bath. They have spare collars with tags while their collars dry after baths. Both are chipped with upto date details registered.

Tags are under £2 on eBay, if someone finds your dog with a phone number on its tag you could get it back straight away. I think the dog warden charges £70 to return your dog.
