I see that a town in Sweden has been moved a couple of miles down the road because of threatened subsidence caused by an iron ore mine. If the old coal mines start to cause subsidence in Accrington can they move us somewhere nice?

Don't hold your breath, I believe there are plenty of empty houses, (sorry I mean places) in Burnley, I'll put up with a sloping floor and windows that either can't open or else can't close thank's.

At least we have running water, even if it is down the walls.

More internet bullshine, I'd heard the French surrendered to greenpeace before the plan went ahead, we should look closer to home for the real culprits.

In the other fracking threads the excessive amount of water needed by fracking was mentioned, and seawater is not suitable, so if you have never experienced water rationing you will think it irrelevant..... until your tap dries up.

Texas has always been short of water- watch a cowboy film or two. They've imported water from Mexico for many years(long before fracking began) but Mexico aren't releasing the amount they agreed- result an even bigger shortage.
Also the population is growing rapidly-result more water use. And Texas swimming pools will have to be the biggest!
There'll soon be a rumour fracking has caused a water shortage in the Sahara!

Surprising what you find wandering round Google. Would you believe in a state which has always been short of water(Texas) they grow 7% of USA's rice!
The fields are flooded 3 to 4 inches deep for several weeks twice a year(2 crops) and there are hundreds of big rice farms. The farmers get the water 20 times cheaper than the townspeople.
So fracking is causing a water shortage??
