Fred Truman

Today we saw the end of an era, with the funeral of Fred Truman the Yorkshire and England fast bowler. I was lucky enough to see Fred playing for England at Old Traford when I was in my early teens along with his speed twin Brian Statham. He may have been from the White Rose County but the whole of England loved him, including Lankies. As the old saying goes they don't make um like that anymore, goodnight and God bless Fredie and thanks for the memories

Aaaw that sad Jaysay, although not particularly interested in the sport, always provided sport for the media and public. Just love eccentric characters like these, don't you ?

Bon voyage Freddie.

Re: Fred Truman

Was driving over to harrogate today, ironically to attend a funeral myself and the traffic towards the church where Fred's service was being held was really busy so it seems he got a good send off
