In Law, the phrase used is "Caveat Emptor", which is derived from Latin. The translation of which, is "buyer beware".

Re: FREE PC worth over £500

Just before you all call this a fake take a look at an artical in the Computeractive mag out today there is a bit in there about this very thing
quote from computeravtive mag :

TWO COMPANIES have set up alternative schemes to the now-defunct home computing initiantive(HCI).
HCI was set up to enable lower-paid workers to buy their own computer with the help of their employer .
But the Treasury alleged that the scheme was being abused by well-paid employees, who defrauded the taxpayers to the tune of £300m.
Chancellor Gordon Brown axed the scheeme in Feb.
Watford Electronics new scheme involves signing up to a three year contract with its Redten broadband service.
This gives the user upto 8mbits/sec broadband connection and costs £19.99 per month
The supplied LG computer is worth £500 contains a Pentium 4 processor with 512mb of memory and comes with a 19in screen
The user can keep the PC at the end of the contract.

it goes on a bit more but i am not sitting here putting it all in you will have to get the mag to read the rest

Re: FREE PC worth over £500

all theinfo is on the site,

3 year contract is probably the big downside in a market where more and more 'free' players are entering all the time. I was chatting about this to a friend and we came up with teh following costings

£20/month over 3 years is £720. At the end of teh 3 years if you sign up again they give you another PC so based on the old one being worth ~£100 min its cost you £120 for internet and you got a 0% interest deal on the PC.

Like a said, teh downside would be teh 3 year contarct but for someone who can't afford to splash £500 notes in one go on a PC its probably not a bad deal.

Hmm, there's a friend of mine and I was just thinking that could be a good deal for him, unfortunately his phone provider is NTL, to take advantage of this deal you have to have a BT land line, so the added costs of switching to a BT line would also have to be considered in his case.

Not much different than the computers for homes that some work places run where you saved mony as it was Vat free (Max £1200 I think) and was open to higher erners as well . Sign up for 3 years paying x amount per month depending on which system of the 5 you chose. Keep for three years and either buy at the fair market price or sign up again. So say a £900ish comp for around £730 aint bad. The payment was taken of before any salery deductions hence the saving.
