Re: Freedom Of The Borough
I'm going to nominate Ken Hargreaves, a truly nice man who has made a huge contribution to the borough both as MP and his HUGE amount of Charity work.

What a change from the usual cross party sniping and bickering. I wonder if we'll get jaysay nominating our current MP?

When he's done half as much as Ken I will gladly nominate him yourself, considering Ken is 70+ Graham has a long way to go

Re: Freedom Of The Borough
In recent years, the late Bill Turner for his work re The Pals & local history.
Ken Hargreaves is an excellent suggestion. He might have touched 70 but I don't think he is over that.

Re: Freedom Of The Borough
I remember when the then Queen's Lancashire Regiment (now the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment) got the Freedom of the Borough, they marched in the town with fixed bayonets. It was a very moving and impressive sight, and it always comes back to me when I hear that one of their number has been killed in Afghanistan......

You live and learn.

Returned to life's sorting office, untouched.
