Frost free freezers.

I usually get the job of defrosting the freezers, I did the upright (we keep anything opened in this one, full packs in the chest freezer), in the past, supposedly frost free freezers have always had plenty of frost in when it came to cleaning it, and takes several hours by the time it has defrosted and been cleaned, I am happy to report that this one took all of 20 minutes to clean, mainly because it was actually FROST FREE, not a bit of frost anywhere!

Re: Frost free freezers.

One of the reasons i got a frost free freezer was so i would not have the horrible boring job of defrosting it. Love it.

I use those anti frost mats in my freezer and they work superbly, they certainly keep the ice build up to a minimum

Re: Frost free freezers.

I treated myself to a frost free fridge freezer last December and it has been packed every day since.
I haven't cleaned the inside of the freezer compartment - it hasn't got any frost build up, and I don't see how it would need cleaning unless a bag burst open.
When you are used to having a freezer that makes frost, it does take a time to have the confidence that your stuff will freeze and stay frozen, but it does.

Re: Frost free freezers.

a few years ago i was "de-frosting" my freezer using a knife to chip away the ice when I pierced the back, loads of gas spurted out...turned out to be a good thing cos we bought a frost free freezer and it's great.

This is my second one, and the first used to get a build up of frost, thats why I posted the thread, I wanted to know if my last one was a duffer , seems it may have been, ours is used a lot, there are seven in the house, and we have things like ice cream and iced lollies, which are sticky, so I clean the freezer fairly regularly, it is the chest freezers turn next week!
