Think your spot on there Eric, people are nosy and only want to read about the rich and famous, people have affairs all the time in ordinary down to earth life, nobody gives a monkey's just a passing comment of "have you seen who Joe Bloggs is knocking off"

Re: Gagging Orders
That isn't the point.......you might not care about what Joe Bloggs is up to, but it does not mean that Joe Bloggs might not want to conceal his misdeeds.
Equality within the justice system should mean that justice is dealt out fairly........it should not be able to be bought......which in effect is what is happening with the super injunctions. These rich celebs are able to cover up their dirty doings by paying for them to be concealed.
Arnold Shwarzeneggar has the right attitude.......he expects the media to hound him but he has asked that they leave his family alone......he is man enough to admit to his wife and his family what he has been up to......though I wonder if he would have done the same if there wasn't the evidence that the child with his lover, provides.

What I was saying Margaret was that Whoever Joe Bloggs is knocking of its hardly going to make the headlines of the Tabloids, they are only interested in newsworthy stories, the ordinary man in the street would have no need for an injunction

Re: Gagging Orders
No John, it doesn't make the headlines but it might be just as important to him, for him to keep his misdeeds quiet, but unless he has lots of money, then this is not available to him.
My point being, that the law should not favour the rich who can pay, over the poor who cannot.
I always thought the figure of justice was blind for that reason....so that she cannot see the richly gilded garments of the merchant over those of the servant.

Re: Gagging Orders
As Jaysay observed earlier......footballers are noted for having brains in only their feet.
Enough said!

Ya but it wasn't me who was bothered really, but the other party DID threaten legal action against the press, which actually did backfire in later years, never did get a good press after that

Re: Gagging Orders
The footballer in question has been named in Parliament today. His name is all over tonights news bulletins. I'm not going to name him, because of the uncertainty over the legality of it all.
He was the model professional, longest serving player in the Premiership, inspiration to younger players, role model, perfect family man. awarded an MBE etc etc the superlatives go on and on.
But all the time just like any other dimwit who couldnt keep it in his trousers at the flutter of a tart's eyelash. I don't blame him for that, because we are all human.
But spare me the superlatives about what a brilliant guy he is. He hung her out to dry at the first hint of trouble by naming her in his injunction while trying to conceal his own identity.
Hardly the actions of a gallant man!
