Games Day

Yes, time is almost here for the Games Day - Saturday 4th March, 11am - 3pm at New Era Complex, Paradise St, Accrington.

Come along and join in. It's for all the family, not just kids and there should be a good atmosphere. It's something that's never been tried before, we have no idea if it will work or not but we're hoping for a good turn out. If you come along do stop and say hello to me, I'll always have time for a chat.

This is what's going on throughout the day....

Scrabble Challenge – see if you can get the highest score possible with the letters given.

Sudoku – what is the number that should be where the question mark is?

Treasure Hunt – pick up an entry form and see if you can find the answers around Accrington.

Giant Chess – why not get a team together to play?

Giant Draughts – another opportunity to get inside a game.

Art attacks – paint a section of a large masterpiece or make a piece of a ceramic jigsaw.

Jigsaw swap – put your jigsaw on the table and swap it for one you’ve never tried before.

Jenga – how high can you build a tower?

Othello, Monopoly, and other games – take a seat at a table and invite someone to join you.

Funding for this event has been provided by Awards for All and the Big Lottery Community Fund.

Re: Games Day

Well, as expected not a huge turn out for the games day. Actually think it's quite sad that very few people play these games any more.

Anyway, we got about 100 people there, including DebbieJ - thanks for coming - and everyone that was there said it was a great idea and they'd had a good time.

Possibly the snow didn't help, parents who would normally have been struggling to entertain their kids didn't need to come out to us they could just send the kids into the back garden.

For a kick off event, it did ok. Our main day is next saturday and I'll be very disappointed if we get a low turnout for that but for this one it doesn't matter.

I was going to bring my lad, but I couldn't get Roy in from playing in the snow with his Land Rover!

Re: Games Day

Well to those who didn't go... you missed a really good day. My little'un, my grand daughter and I had great fun playing draughts, noughts & crosses e.t.c we also had fun doing the treasure hunt around Accy and playing with clay. So thank you to Gayle & her team for a great day.
