sorry to hear about this: having just started work on my garden I know how much hard work not to mention money goes into it:

In my front garden I have plants but I also leave nice bits of razor wire under the rim of the pot... so if someone trys to steal them: Well they will have a nasty cut:

And then they could probably sue you for criminal injurys.

So sorry that this happened to you again Willow. That is really just terrible. I hope they get these people before they destroy the beauty of the Willows lane landscape as well as how violated you guys must feel.

Ask the police how you can set up security within legal guidelines so that you have proof. You can email them and make enquiries you know so you could keep the reply email as proof if they tell you how you can do it, so if any smart ass gets caught and tries to say you shouldnt have filmed them you can say the police advised you to.

Also ask the police if it would be safe to use the razor wire under the rims idea . Its worth a try if it saves your plants from being uprooted.

Police have been on the phone and suggested I cement pots to path but I don't really want to do that. The point of the pots is that they are re-arrangeable. They reckon the plants will turn up at a car boot sale but there's no way of proving they are ours. I've just noticed that a spare tub has gone too - maybe they nicked that for the acer that they took previously!

Oh Willow I am seething for you .. how heartbreaking.

Don't feel you would get away with the razor wire .. don't know if you remember the pieces of glass cemented on top of back yard walls years ago .. became illegal in case someone decided to climb over your back door sometime and hurt themselves..

Yeh, got them in Clayton today on Barnes Square ... think they are lovely.

Britcliffe did warn us they were coming .. mentioned in Observer today .. also was an article for the proposed ones on Broadway recently (thread on here somewhere)... have they arrived?

Can only hope they don't see the same demise as Willows .. but are CCTV cameras around them..

Theres a couple at the memorial at the bottom of rhyddings street too. The ones at the co-op do look like they have just been dumped in any old place but they do look lovely. Just hope they stay that way.

I'd be heartbroken if it happened to me. My only suggestion is to grow something like roses in your front garden. Maybe the thorns would be a deterrent, I can't weed round mine without ending up with gouges all up my arms so I look like I've been mauled by a tiger. I have bled, profusely, into the soil - maybe that's why my roses are always healthy - fertilser!

Do you remember the case of the retired accountant, last year, who was pinching plants from his neighbours' allotments? He was taken to court for it. You haven't any accountants living nearby, have you?
