as i hear it Paul McCartney bought a plane for his wife ......

he spent a further £30 on an electric razor so she could shave the other leg

it seems to me that whenever there is a crisis in the world up pop a few celebrities almost demending we put our hands in our pockets yet fail to do the same themselves

they claim that they help by contributing their time and tallent yet dont mind all the srrounding publicity which helps their failing careers

when people said Paul McCartney to me i used to think of a talented person and part of the beetles

all i think of now when i hear his name is tree huggging idiot with too much free time on his hands and an unbelievable almost extreemist dislike for eating meat

Thought he'd split up from Jerry Hall?

*lmao*

some funny comments but i agree the celebs shud lead by example

i remember when 9/11 happened nad they were doin the whole telethon thing and then came the celeb amounts. xyz a-list celeb has personally donated $100,000 xyz singer has donated $50,000

i was thinkin wtf?! is that all?! i mean the a-listers such as leonardo di caprio earn 200 times that per movie!!

i mean alot more respect wud b due to them if one a-lister stood up and said ok my next movie's paycheck is goin all to the blah blah fund for 9/11 or end world poverty. then ur talkin $20m+ and not some half hearted appearence on tv for 20 mins just to make sure u are seen to b caring.

at least with bob geldolf i can see yeah ok he's takin out the trouble to organise all this or his team is.. but he's behind it and he does do quite alot of active work in africa

naturally wiht the nature of africa and its countries its impossible to say 100% will go to the ppl. corruption is rife. and the tv progs need to pay for the bottles of water for the celebs in their five star hotels whilst durin the day htey go standing and shedding a tear next to a kid thats dying...

robbie williams was listed as pop's highest earner or sommet. i mean come on. if u gave £50m of that cash how much wud u honestly have to adjust ur life?

look at all the cash wacko jacko's blown and learn a lesson.

ah well...

Not quite true mate, have a read of this.

January 12, 2005 George Rupp, president of the International Rescue Committee, today hailed the extraordinary generosity of Paul and Heather McCartney for their gift of one million pounds ($1.9 million) for the aid organization’s tsunami relief efforts in Aceh, Indonesia.

And this

Pop legend Sir Paul McCartney has donated $2m (£1.25m) to two US hospitals that cared for his late wife Linda when she was dying from breast cancer.

Re: Geldof - Stick your Live 8 up your *!##+^ '~£

And this.

Sandra Bullock and Leonardo DiCaprio each donated about $1 million for disaster relief following the recent tsunami in Southeast Asia. The Steven Spielberg family donated $1.5 million. Jet Li donated more than $125,000; Jackie Chan added at least $64,000. Among several dozen rock bands which donated proceeds of their concerts or made outright donations, U-2 and Linkin Park each donated $100,000; Ozzie and Sharon Osborn donated almost $200,000.

So I think it is far to say that many celeb's with money do make very large donations.

I am struggling to find any large donations made by Bob Geldof himself. Maybe someone can help me out.

tax reasons also could be the incentive for donating large amounts of money

those that secretly donate money i have more respect for then those that make sure their name is mentioned and a few reporters present to hear it
