Re: Goldtrail Travel go bust

Seeing that Goldtrail own no aircraft, unlike XL, most if not all should be okay.
The majority of Tour Operators sell seats on Charter Airlines, like Monarch, therefore their flights home are covered.
Another sad day for the industry though

They were actually saying that people who have booked flight only holidays and have still to travel have little or no chance of getting their money back BG

Re: Goldtrail Travel go bust

Not too sure about this, but according to the Campaign Against Aviation, sorry CAA, hehehe, this should apply:

If you book directly with an airline or through an airline agent you won’t be ATOL protected. You should consider insurance to provide some cover.

If you are booked with an (ATOL) tour operator and the airline you are due to fly on holiday with stops operating, the tour operator is required to provide alternative flight arrangements for your holiday, provide a different holiday of a similar standard or a refund.

My understanding is this is a Tour Operator and therefore ATOL bonded, so everyone should be looked after. Still wer cannot expect Sky News/ BBC etc to get it right all the time

Just seen the BBC Northwest news BG and it showed people with families turning up at Manchester Airport and being told their holiday was off, felt really sorry for them especially the kids

Re: Goldtrail Travel go bust

I received a call form Althams Travel at 16.52 on Friday night regarding Goldtrail. We had a holiday to Turkey in September with Sunmar a subsidiary of Goldtrail.
We have been to Althams today and changed to a similsr Cosmos holiday.
This cost just £53, the money already paid was transferred by Althams.

They will take the hit as it could be 2 years before this is sorted out.

Well done Althams.
