Re: good news is this the start of the turning point

I don't think it will be the start of an economic recovery, I expect the budget will reveal an even worsening situation from what the governments figures first predicted. It is good that somebody has saved JJB, so even more jobs are not lost.

I think we have a long hard road ahead of us before we see anything like economic recovery, but like you, I am pleased that JJB hasn't foundered.

think its more the fact Dave Whelan did not want to see his "Baby" go under, which aint a bad thing fer those employed by JJB.

Re: good news is this the start of the turning point

good its been saved but im not buying into this economic doom and gloom , its not as though when teh economy picks up everything is going to be half the price it is now and unicorns will be dancing on rainbows infact if teh newspapers and news programs would shut up for a second and stop scare mongering people may actually realise that in reality things havnt changed much

i dont think it is lack of money thats kept people out of teh shops but teh fear put into teh public by teh press and news

The Accy branch of Ossy Mills has now opened.

It certainly looks better than the empty Woolworths.

Had a quick nose in and it was busy...mainly with other people having a nosey.

The security guard used to be in Ossy Mills. I suppose he's there to stop people thieving.

Too many ladies clothes for my liking, seemed to be the old stock that's been hanging in Ossy.

I love Yankee candles. They are the only thing I can ever smell.

That's what happens to your sense of smell when it is subjected to
bombardment with nasty chemicals.
....I can smell dew on new grass

Well Said! All this negativity is making a bad situation so much worse than it needs to be!

Strangely loss of smell is one of the symptoms of Parkinson's.

That, combined with smoking, means that not much gets up my nose, besides the Yankee candles.

If only I was as clean living as you I'd probably find them aggravating too.

While there may be an element of 'talking down' the economy....I don't really think it is just that that is to blame....after all it is a global situation, not just confined to this countrys economy........and while the bankers(have I got the right word there?) in this country have bordered on negligent, a lot of the debt originated in the USA.

People have just realised that it is mad to spend money that you don't actually have(the government could learn a thing or two here), and that companies that you would have thought were rock solid are foundering.......and that's what is causing the lack of financial confidence.
