Re: Great big huge massive charity shop !
Suppose a charity shop is better than an empty shop.

Re: Great big huge massive charity shop !
more charity shops and pound shops there are will not encourage big shops and names to the town center the council by allowing it to happen are in my opinion driving the big guns away.

Yes, but if you planned to open a shop of your own would you want to be surrounded by charity shops or be part of a bustling business community made up of like minded people? I think most people with money to invest would head for a different and busier centre.

Totally agree with you on that one. but surrounded by empty shop may give a worse impression.
Bit like Warner Street, the bottom end near the arcade looks bad as it empty all the trade has gone. even the stationers (tattersalls) that I can remember being there, well as far as I can remember.
Catch 22.

There is a damn good little cafe there though that does cracking hot dinners for lunch time! Jacket spuds and lots of yummy fillings, fresh sandwiches hot and cold. Mmmm my boyfriend showed me that shop. yum yum.
I can't say i'd mind if accy was taken over by charity shops but then, as a student, theyre brilliant for me, and they're good for the older people. The ones in the middle have all the basic shops, and you got to remember that the larger chain stores just aren't coming to accy as they make more money investing more into online stores than little stores that could be a liability.

Which cafe is that? Have I been missing out on an Accy cafe? I only know the one in the Arcade round that way and the butty/pie shop. Is that a cafe too?

I'm not thinking of that one, that ones further up. Therea right litlte one further ndown near the barbers (if thats still there) and its got a breakfast bar type thing inside and a little table. Right nice little place.
Theres a new mother and baby orientated cafe down from argos as well, though everyones welcome, its a bit more expensive but nice place to go for a coffee.

Re: Great big huge massive charity shop !
I haven't tried that new mother and baby one yet, though its good that there's one geared up for breast feeding, some of the cafes dont like you going in with a pram so at least I know I'd be welcome there.

Its very spacious and clean, the only reason I went in is because I saw I had a friend from high school working there and I fancied a natter the lady who runs it is very nice aswell and I believe she has some stuff for sale in the back rooms but obviously I never ventured in that far. Its only been open a few months.

Cafe/sandwich place you are on about is Bishop's ;next to the Warners. Extremely good value and great variety of sarnies !
