Greg Pope - another golden opportunity?

On Wednesday 26 January Hyndburnlite is giving us the chance to talk to our MP Greg Pope "live" at the House of Commons! Apparently we can ask him questions on any topic - ooer.

They have set up a special forum which they are calling an "on line surgery", with Mr. Pope logging in from his office in the House of Commons. That is of course provided Mr. Pope is actually able to log in. Wouldn't it be interesting if he couldn't and was told his cookies were to blame?

They claim that this is the first time Hyndburn Life’s users will have been able to speak directly to their elected Member of Parliament. I find that statement rather odd considering he holds regular surgeries here in the borough.

It starts at 6pm next Wednesday and will last for one hour - judging by the number of people posting on Hyndburnlite it will do well to last more than five minutes.

I bet after 10 minutes of waiting for summat to happen he logs off (if he managed to log on in the first place) and goes off down the pub.

Re: Greg Pope - another golden opportunity?

I will have to give it a miss as I am still unable to log on to that site. We should just e mail him and ask him to meet us in the Stag. It will probably be quicker for him to travel from London have a pint and travel back than it is to log on to Hyndburn Life.

At least he would get a run for his money.......and some idea of what the folks of Hyndburn think of him......and MAYBE even a small chance to redeem himself!

I believe he was quite complimentary in the local rag about accyweb, I can't remember if the comment was ever put on site though, perhaps Roy remembers?

Re: Greg Pope - another golden opportunity?

Is this the same Greg Pope who was, only a couple of weeks ago, complaining that he did not know how to make sense of a train timetable. If it is then there is little chance of him knowing how to work a Qwerty keyboard much less managing to log on to Hyndburnlite. Sounds like another non-event to me!

Re: Greg Pope - another golden opportunity?

I did read the article in the Observer, and notice that it said anyone could ask Mr Pope questions on any subject. It also said that if you were not fortunate enough to have you question answered on line you could always submit them as an email to hyndburnlite admin and selected questions would be forwarded for Mr Pope's consideration. Selected questions! Not all of them, just selected ones. Clearly he has more important issues with which to occupy his time than answering all the questions posed by his constituents. I understand that he is still only part way through reading "Train Timetables for Dummies!" and is finding it rather hard going.

I cannot help thinking that there could be a better way of spending the money he costs to maintain.
