Re: guarators

Why would you need somebody to gurantee your rent. If you don't pay it they evict you, simple really. Which company is it ? ( My money is on Rent-the House )

Re: guarators

Normally they would ask for a deposit of one months rent anyway. At most it takes them 6 weeks to evict you so they really are well covered. Yet another example of private landlords wanting it all.

Re: guarators

Only a nut case would sign to be a guarantor, as it commits you to paying any debts incurred by the person you have signed for on that transaction plus any damage and interest. Yes it must be a great stumbling block when trying to rent a property, these types are usualy managed properties for absentee landlords who buy at auction and never in some cases see the properties. In any business there is an element of risk, these people want the halfpenny and the cake they don't deserve to be in business, the ridiculous deposits should be enough security for them, as they are always reluctant to return those.

I seem to recall somebody on here saying Rent The House also require a £75 fee for a credit check. Seems a very greedy company.

They seem to have gone a long way in a short time in business, so it must be very profitable area to invest in. In fact it is money for old rope, any fool could set up as an estate agent and valuer, I do not think they have any governing bodies to answer to 'yet', but i'd like to bet those with their snouts in the trough would like to see one now they are on the bandwaggon, if only to deter unwanted competition. Accrington is only a small town yet there are loads of them at it, so it speaks for itself how much they are making.

They still want the deposits etc even if the social are paying, otherwise they won't have you in the house.
