Gym
Is there anyone out there familiar with the gym equipment at the New Era?
If anyone goes there and uses the equipment often enough to know how it works and what the things on the little screens mean I have a query.

Re: Gym
Hi Bob - I just wanted to ask a basic question really. I've been a couple of times and know how some of the equipment works but had a question regarding the info on the screen of the treadmill. There's a little green heart shows up in the top right hand corner from time to time. Do you know what it means? I asked the person in charge but she didn't know and said it probably didn't mean anything but if it didn't mean anything why would it be there? I haven't seen it on other things but then again I may just not be very observant.

Re: Gym
The person in charge was rather vague about it and really didn't fill me full of confidence. I'd really like to know if it's good or bad! Am I benefitting from what I'm doing or am I flogging myself to death? lol

Re: Gym
Hi,Willow Yes,you are probably meant to be wearing a monitor that then sends a signal to the equipment, not essential to your exercise really.
Don't overdo it though!

I'm supposed to have had a routine worked out for me but she hasn't done it yet. It's almost a flippin workout getting onto the bike because I've only got little legs and the saddle won't come down far enough!

Re: Gym
Thanks Bob. Next time I'm there I'll ask at the desk for when he is in and see if I can arrange to be there at the same time.

Hi willow,
Are you are using the treadmill for walking or are you trying to "run" on it, think that walking will do you a lot of good in the long run (sorry) I go to gym 3 times a week, use the treadmill and the cross machine, feel a lot better for it, keeps the knees moving.

Re: Gym
I go to the one near the globe, Sportlife its called. Really good gym. Before you start they go through all the machines and weights with you and work out a fitness regime for you to do, which you can update as you go along. As for the sky tv, they have it on the monitors, on the music stations. But each machine has a special earphone system on it so you can listen to the tvs that just have normal tv on them and not music. Quite a busy place too, and the changing facilities and so on are top class to.

Re: Gym
I'm actually using it for walking but they said it has to be brisk walking and not a leisurely stroll (bit obvious really). If I tried to run on it it would probably run away with me! I have a video clip which illustrates my point but I don't think it can be uploaded to AccyWeb.
