This is news to me - I realise that I haven't been out much for the past seven months so may have missed it but - just where on Heys Lane do you mean
PS I am on the estate with 'bird named' streets too, and so is Jaysay

The law as it stands says that councils have to apply for an eviction order which takes up to two weeks to acquire before it can be served. These people know that and in the main will usually move on just before it is produced. The problem is they can move around the corner and the council has to go through the process all over again cos they ain't in the place the original order stipulated!!
What is needed is a fast-track eviction procedure - under 24 / 48 hours - that covers the entire borough. maybe then they may get fed up of being moved on constantly and do something about it.
I also think if they get served three notices by the same borough council they should have property (caravan?) seized to pay for clear-ups and costs.
But that ain't within their human rights is it?.....

Intended mentioning this myself walked through this afternoon and there are six caravans now. Agree with you it is a damn disgrace that they get away with doing this over and over again

Cashy you are absolutely spot on. 'Rules of engagement' apply to civilian applications as they do in military applications....getting permission from the 'suits' as you call them must be overcome. Give the responsibility to the ground forces, never mind the legal clap trap....put laws in place that prohibits land grab for convenience and put penalties on dumping rubbish on land that has been utilised without permission by these people.

I know they have to reapply for an eviction order every time, not sure if it takes two weeks though churchman. I have said for a long time that councils should be allowed to take out an injunction on a piece of land that lasts for 12 months and can be renewed every year,or in other words cut out the red tape, but it would take government legislation to do it, and I'm not sure where on the list of priorities this would come on any government agenda

I'm not sure Margaret I'm like you I ain't been out much for a few months, the only thing I can think of is that land next to the church building opposite the Heys Pub, there's was planning permission given for a bungalow and so many caravans and a shower block a few years ago, that's the only one that comes to mind

That would be a good idea re the injunction. Could they not make it borough wide though??
The two weeks is from an Obby report where they interviewed someone about it. It is one of those useless things that sticks in the head and you tend to not forget!!
