Haunting can take many forms as I sure the Avid “Most Haunted fans will know. The term Grounded often refers to a ghost whose life was ended or taken tragically, are it can be the spirit of a perpetrator who’s afraid of the consequences of its actions or remorse through guilt. At the worse extreme a grounded spirit can be so malevolent it actually enjoys its condition and stays bathed in the misery it may cause those susceptible.

Other types of Haunting are Visitation – where the Spirit of a person comes to look in on its former home or to see a loved one etc. Residual – Where basic is a record of past event’s being plated back and being picked up by the view, just like telly, Poltergeists and poltergeist type activity is quite a different thing.

Re: Haunted houses/places local

I believe my home is haunted, things disappear only to reappear a couple of days later in the place I left them. Occasionally when I feel stressed empty storage boxes fly off my kitchen unit at me when they have been there for weeks. The other night a shadow walked across my landing when I was on my own! It doesn't scare me as I believe the living are more scary than the dead.

I do very definitely, I regularly visit the local Spiritualist Church often to suss out the mediums and to see how they perform. Not all of them are genuine if you fancy seeing one in view of gaining evidence of life continuing after death you should seek out one who’s registered with the National Spiritualist Union. Just a point, It’s an illegal Act for a medium to tell you your future or make predictions…..as it is to con you out of your hard earned cash...

As for myself I have had readings that would appear to be telling that my ancestors have survived the transition, but it’s not proof I need, it’s the understanding of it I’ve been looking long enough.

I have seen ghosts or spirit people and I have spoken with them in the past. I have felt the love of them and the relief there presents can bring and I’ve also been in the presents of the other side in the realm, of the malevolent and elemental spirits…………….

Talk to him Debbie, Welcome him into your realm and ask if there’s anything you can do to help. If it’s need your help, you will know. The box’s flying off the selves is much more likely to be a physical emanation from within you. Nothing to worry about really either way, Spirit won’t harm you and if you yourself or developing a psychic skill or medium ship just pop along to your local Spiritualist church and they well give you some guidance…..Just remember that your ghost will feel your presents as well and it might have been their home before it was yours……

Found this whilst nosying

Spooky tales of a haunted Hyndburn

SPOOKY ... Stuart Macfarlane with his daughter Michelle at the Duckworth Hall Inn
EXECUTED for religious beliefs. Tied up and burned to death for love. Drowned in the River Hyndburn. But horrible deaths have not stopped them. They are Hyndburn’s ghosts ... and they are countless.
So while your little treasures prepare for a night of trick-or-treating, you should remember there are some places nobody, let alone, children should go.
Centuries ago, Black Abbey in Accrington was home to a devout order of monks. A young member of the order fell in love with Ursula, the beautiful daughter of a nobleman. Biding their time until they could marry, they met secretly in a top room in an abbey tower. But one night, the young monk was captured by the girl’s father and his henchmen, chained to a wall and set on fire. His beloved had been hiding, but hearing his deathly screams she ran to help him.
There have been several reports of Ursula appearing in a halo of light. Golden tresses fall down her back, she is the epitome of radiant youth. But when she sees you, her flesh becomes withered and scabby, as though scorched by flames. Then she emits a horrible shriek and vanishes.
Love really is a killer. Pretty French governess Lucette lived at Dunkenhalgh Hall – now the hotel – with the Petre family (lords of the manor until 1947). She became pregnant but was deserted by her lover. And realising the Petre family would sack her for her illegitimate child, she threw herself in the River Hyndburn. Wearing the white translucent gown in which she was pulled from the water, she is seen on cold, dark winter nights walking sad-eyed through the misty Dunkenhalgh grounds.
Meanwhile, a house in Queensway, Church, has terrified residents for years. Just 10 years ago a terrified mother of four abandoned the semi-detached home, begging the council to be re-housed. An exorcist was called after a guitar played itself, family members were grabbed by invisible cold hands and the bath filled itself rapidly. But the council refused to release the family from their horror.
At the time, a former resident of the house told the Observer: “As I was about to leave for the last time I couldn’t budge the front door. It wouldn’t open so I had to go out through the back.” Neighbours refused to speak about the house, which a series of families had fled.
In 1954, after quietly taking charge of Oswaldtwistle’s Duckworth Hall Inn, Haslingden Road, Sam Arrowsmith and his wife Margaret didn’t expect to attract anything more threatening than the occasional drunk. But doors flying open in the small hours, chains clanking and the sound of footsteps terrified them.
The story goes the ghost was a persecuted Roman Catholic priest who was imprisoned in the pub before being executed at Whalley Abbey. Regulars maintain a cloaked figure is often seen gliding away from the pub towards the site of his murder. Current landlord Stuart Macfarlane said: “My daughter Michelle knows how spooky the place is. We’ve got a special set of brass cups and several times she’s seen them fall inexplicably from the tacks in the wall.”
Finally, Sue Brown, manager at Hyndbrook House sheltered accommodation in Dale Street, Accrington, claims residents often see a spectre of a man dressed in a brown suit. She said: “He isn’t malevolent, he seems friendly. It is quite spooky, but it sounds like you catch him in the corner of your eye and then he’s gone. The residents call him Albert.”

Until there is proven scientific evidence of ghosts or any afterlife, I remain happily atheistic.

Though Doug saying he regularly attends spiritualist meetings does throw light on his other posts about suicide etc.
This isn't a dig by the way, just the sound of the penny dropping.

The questions is "what is the meaning of life" therefore should there be one saying "what is the meaning of death"? If they could prove gost gouls angels devils etc would that not make the meaning of life errelevent?

Your dreaming again rindy old fart.......are is it wishful thinking......

The aims and role of the spiritualist church is to provide scientific evidence of the survival of the spirit, I think they have quite a way to go but they are trying and not just sat gobbing about it. There are churches in Blackburn, Great Harwood, Bacup and Burnley... I'll come and hold your little pinkies if you would like to go and find out for yourself....
