Haunted houses/places local

Mmmm as its halloween & another most haunted live weekend got me very curious & trolled through lancashire websites & they have a section for haunted places. The strangest thing that people reported their hauntings & there was a woman in Burnley saying her house was haunted. Interesting topic for the weekend.

Are there any hauntings in Accy????

Re: Haunted houses/places local

I remember the story in the Observer of one woman who lived on Queensway at Church, who was so scared of the hauntings that were happening in her house that she had to be moved by the council. Whether it's true or not I don't know, but the council apparently had to have the house exorcised.

Oh yeah and then there is Tina and Duncans old house round the corner from us. That was truly an horrific house with a very negative feel to it. I can't believe my girls could stay there overnight, I couldn't last 3 minutes lol! Tina, Slinks and I were going to have a girly night in at Tinas one night, just before they moved, to see if we got a visit but i chickened out ...... I couldn't find enough underwear to last me the night out

Re: Haunted houses/places local

I know it was reported in the Observer archives that some people in Baxenden were practicing the dark arts being a pentagon & burning upside down crosses in the late 70's early 80's

The shop that used to be Family Fireplace at the top of Peel St is supposed to be haunted.

I was also told about a haunting on the top floor of Shifters when I used to work there. Don't know where the ghost would be now if it was true - probably haunting Boots' roof.

I've never seen a ghost or anything spooky so can't say if either are true.

Re: Haunted houses/places local

According to psychic mediums the ghost would still haunt the place if still grounded.

Its interesting subject cos there is a lot of old buildings & history, murder & intrigue so suppose there would be some spooks

No me either. The only really weird experience I've had that I couldn't explain as tricks of the mind is ........ I had gone for a meal at The Grey Mare at Belthorn one night, lovely company, really enjoyable evening. At a point in the evening I needed the loo, thought nothing of it but as I was sat there doing my business I had an awful feeling of dread came over me, it really felt like someone was stood outside the loo door but I knew I was alone in there. It took all the courage I could muster to open that loo door and I practically ran out with my hands covering my eyes ..... I really was so scared I could have cried!

Re: Haunted houses/places local

I don't believe in ghosts, but my brother does. At our old house on Stanhill Lane he swears he was pinned down onto his bed by a ghostly woman. Since he was about fifteen at the time, I think it's more like wishful thinking.

He watches the sale of houses very closely, and he has noticed that the house has since been sold four times in the last ten years. This he takes as proof that other people have experienced the straddling woman of Stanhill.
