Have you put your heating on yet?
My ex-wife used to call me tight for not putting on the heating as soon as it cooled a little, but I see it as not being wasteful and helping the environment.
I admit that I do take after my Dad a little bit in my reluctance to put on the heating and last year I was delighted to not put it on until November.
This last week a number of people in work said that they'd put their heating on already. I know it was a bit cold at night, but it's only September!! Surely it's too early for heating??
Anyone else using their heating yet, or are there more thrifty people out there like myself?

Re: Have you put your heating on yet?
Put mine on only when its freezing, although Im reluctant as it takes ages to warm my drafty house up, and with central heating only it costs me a bomb.
Over £300 gas bill for a quarter last year.
Going to invest in a gas bottle heater, heat just the living room up. saving money and the enviroment.
I tell the misses there are also other ways to keep warm.

Please dont use a gas bottle heater - if you are a council or housing association tenant you will find that you are in breach of your tenancy agreement if you do. The reason?- they are not safe and give off carbon monoxide

Re: Have you put your heating on yet?
On a couple of nights this week it was really chilly so I had the heating on for a bit.

Re: Have you put your heating on yet?
No, the heating hasn't been on since before Easter......and it hasn't felt cold enough yet to turn it on.
If I remember rightly (and I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong)last year remained unseasonably warm until very late in the year.....I don't think we had our heating on until November.

Re: Have you put your heating on yet?
yes, it was early november when ours went on last year but this year we have had a fire put in which seems to heat most of the house anyway so i`ll see how we get on with that for now and it costs much less to run.

Re: Have you put your heating on yet?
Havnt had mine on since march. Cant put it on at the mo even if I wanted to as I need a new system that with luck will be installed on Friday. The cold dosnt bother me so it will only go on when its cold enough ie around 2degc outside.

Re: Have you put your heating on yet?
Certainly have, and got the blow heating going in back room whilst on here.
Had it on end of August, just to turn off whilst I was sunning myself in Spain for two weeks early September.
There again, don't suppose I wear enough clothes in the house, as today .. just a stripey t-shirt and linen pants. I know they recommend to wear more to save on your heating bills, but can't stand heavy cardies, etc.
Will probably get warm once I start to do some physical work .. like cleaning the bathroom and vacuuming...eventually.

Re: Have you put your heating on yet?
My mum always turned the heating off when the clocks changed in March and turned it back on when the clocks changed in October. Last year i forgot all about it - wondered why it was cold upstairs on xmas day thought has the heating bust - i hadnt turned it on!!!

Re: Have you put your heating on yet?
Ours is basically off but I have put it on once or twice when it's been really cold or to help some washing get dry.
During the day if I'm chilly sitting here I just put a shawl round my shoulders. Once I start doing something I warm up.
