Post Helicopters

Really excited!
Weather permitting, on Sunday, going up in a helicopter as a birthday treat! 8)  8) Kids are coming too.
Never flown before at all, so it will be quite an experience. Hoping I will be able to take a couple  of shots (pics, not booze) while I'm up there or a bit of video.

Got 15 minutes booked and really looking forward to it.

Anyone else been up in one?

Post Re: Helicopters

Thanks Owd Bert. My birthday's actually not till the 6th Sept, but that was the closest booking available.

It's somewhere in Eccles, but I think there are  more local places where you can do it.

Will give you more info on Sunday.

Is it your birthday coming up?

Always wanted a helicopter flight, love flying. They do them somewhere near the Houghton Arms, seen an advertisement on the M65. Thinking of sending my dad on one for his birthday, as he was daft enough to do a skydive in New Zealand earlier this year. Happy birthday Cazzer, hope you enjoy it. Let us know what it was like. Thanks Lettie. Will need a fire extinguisher for my candles this year! ;D

Hopefully if I'm OK up there, I'll get some ariel shots and put them on a web page.

Don't know what I'll be like though as I've never even been in a plane yet.

Can actually remember about 1997, when we lived on West Crescent,  - I think it was the guy who has Winfields - he had arranged some treats for Romanian kids, was taking them a up a few at a time. then one or two lucky local kids got a quick flight. This was from the Stanley ground. Surprised someone didn't think of that!

Post Re: Helicopters

Helicopters are great, you'll love it. I've been in 2 seaking search and rescue choppers down in cornwall - great experience especially when the pilot demo'd the auto-rotation landing. That is landing without your engines! Yes, helicopters can, but believe me you shoot towards the ground at an alarming rate! Ask the pilot to demonstrate it, you have to learn how to do it in your first few lessons so he will know...

Post Re: Helicopters

Hi Owd Bert!

As promised, a few pics from our trip out.

The flights are from Barton Aerodrome.

Absolutely brilliant, want to do it again! 8) 8)

Bit scary the first time it did a tilt, also the pilot was bobbing the helicopter up and down every so often.

Only got about 5 aerial pics as I was too busy enjoying myself.

Plus got some video footage which I hope to get some stills from soon.

Plenty of pics of planes & helicopters if you're interested, though.

Did the auto rotation landing UKbug!

Finished the day off with a trip into Blackpool, had tea there and messed about on the beach for a couple of hours.

Very enjoyable day!
