Help in bad weather!

Of late we have had concerned calls from (Danielle Hibbert) the hospital social worker in liaison with our care provider about how we are coping in this spell of weather along with calls from neighbors We are known to carers link run by P R T C (Princess Royal Trust for Carers) who are there, (we are told) for carers but where have the calls been from them? Have the care charities been ringing round checking if carers have medication, food, heat?

Bet they would soon ring us if a donation was due!

Roll of Honour

All the care workers at Broadfield Care services, Danielle Hibbert the hospital social worker, David Fenton Coal merchant of Darwen who delivered and carried the nine bags of fuel all the way through the house, and the kind lady from Wilkinson’s’ coal merchants of Great Harwood who offered to bring us some fuel that evening when she finished work and was to visit near here.

Re: Help in bad weather!

I'll certainly second the recommendation for Broadfied Care Services, they were very good with my Father when he needed there care, very well run, professional, and most important...caring!

Best Regards - Taggy

Re: Help in bad weather!

first of all carers link doesnt just cover hyndburn .. its not called east lancs carers link for nothing ...... and who are they going to be more concerned about ... an adult caring for his/her wife/husband who has transport etc .. or a child who is caring for their parent/s who has no transport as theyre not old enough to drive ...

before you say anything .. i have had contact with carers link .. when i was a carer .. and they do all sorts to give carers a break from their responsibilities .. and are there when you need them.

Re: Help in bad weather!

I in my small way had I the resources to do so could construct a database of carers in an area and see that some contact with them was maintained by phone if not more, and more especially in weather like we have just had.

I could also think to ask carers did they wish to join in a circle of friends (Vetted as far as possible) linked by phone as the role of a carer is to many a role that isolates them from the outside.

So they have helped you, good luck to you and them but there is more to careing than doing when asked!

“An adult with transport”? Some may have this and still not be able to get out IN WEATHER LIKE THIS!

And children should not be primary carers at all. This role is too stressful for some adults and has lead to suicide.

Broadfield Care looked after my Father just before he passed away and they were excellent

Re: Help in bad weather!

The system as I have spoken of could have gone some way to prevent this! One would cost very little and do so much.

That is so terribly sad and does make one question the way society is heading when something like this happens.

May they Rest In Peace!!!!
