Love the photo Margaret. What an expression on that cat's face! And some people say cats don't have facial expression, that one speaks volumes, most of it seemingly disgruntled at having to pose for a photograph and very condescendingly doing so.

Pasha is just a black and white moggy......and I mean that in the very best sense of the word.....and Barker is a rough coated Jack Russell Terrier.
Pasha adopted us. It was very strange really, my hubby had just had a stroke and was feeling very down in the mouth, when this playful black and white kitten walked into the house one day......made a beeline for him and draped herself around his shoulders like a furry scarf......and that is why she is called Pasha.....after the Pashmina scarf. She lifted my hubby's spirits no end and that was the start of a very fine recovery for him.....so I think she is his guardian angel in disguise!

Yes Willow, you are certainly right about Monty.....he was a king in a previous existence and hasn't forgotten it. Sometimes he will sit on my lap and be stroked......and other times he would bite me soon as look at me. And if I put him out for a pee and he doesn't want to go he walks down the back yard growling all the way and looking over his shoulder giving me evils. Sir Roy Strong wrote about the breed in the paper recently and it was most enlightening. Apparently it is a feature of the breed to splash about in their water dish with their paws before they drink.....Monty does that! and they don't like to be fed at ground level.....Monty will only eat food it it is on the kitchen work top......I have had to buy those special glass cutting boards so that we can do that......when he sees them being taken out he comes into the kitchen and jumps up when the surface protectors are in place......when he has fed I take them off and wash them and he doesn't get up on the work top again until it is feeding time again.

Re: Help!!! Lost pet!!!

sorry to put a downer on the upbeat theme of this thread, but i was reading the first couple of entries re the cat being lost then found in peel park.
just be careful round there with your cats because there is a chap on lodge street who steals cats and takes them into his house. the R.S.P.C.A. are aware but have limited powers.
the guy in question looks like a vagrant and has a shopping bag on wheels. he stole one of my friends cats.

They make better companions than humans to some people. I would expect that the beasts in question are cared for other wise the RSPCA would act. In respect of the matter cats are legally considered to be vermin so technically cat napping is not a crime

That a wonderful storey Margaret and you've made cry. I'm so pleased that things have turned around for your hubby in this way. It goes to prove how in a considerable number of cases how important it is to continue to maintain contact with pets during the course of a serious illness. All too often pets are excluded often on the ground of infection which as I’m sure you will agree is not always necessary...

Fair comment Stanerlee, I'm sure that everyone appreciates your input and I'm also sure people will understand the importance of it.

Re: Help!!! Lost pet!!!

Yes Doug and it is a proven medical fact that animals can help with recovery from serious illness......lots of hospitals now have a PAT dogs scheme.....this is where an organisation takes dogs around designated hospital wards for the patients to see and to pet. And I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I think the hospice has a cat.
I did try to find Pasha's owner before we kept her, but no-one in the locality had lost her and the vet said she had not been chipped......she was about 6 months old when she walked into our home.......that is 5 years ago now.
