Help needed at the Civic Arts Centre

Tomorrow, some young people from the Arts Centre are taking part in a project which links the Centre to the Cultural Olympiad, via the national Stories of the World project. You may not have heard of this yet but it is basically a way of getting young people up and down the country, who are not that connected with sports, to get involved with the Olympics via culture and the arts.

We are holding an open day at the Arts Centre and asking anyone who has lived in this area for 40/50/60 years plus, to come in and talk to the young people. We are showing the old photos of Union Road again to prompt some discussions and we are asking people to bring old memorabilia in, especially if the memorabilia is connected to the mills/textiles or weaving in any way (that's not essential but would be interesting).

The young people will be around at the Centre from about 11am to 3pm and would really like to talk to people - whether you've lived here all your life or moved into the area.

We'll provide tea/coffee and biscuits.
