Heroes

Looking at current events and how ill Ali is at the moment. Just wondering who you guys classed as heroes while you were growing up?

For me from my era..

Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins who went to the moon in a tin can using processors with less power than your average smartphone.

Ali...who stuck to his principles and beliefs, was stripped of his title, came back and proved he is the Greatest.

Bobby Moore...absolutely no airs and graces that typify the modern footballer.

Re: Heroes

My hero......no heroine, isn't famous......she isn't rich, but she had great impact on my life.
My hero was a staff nurse on my first surgical ward.
Staff Nurse Dignan. She was everything that I wanted to be. She was kind, she showed compassion, she was always calm whatever the situation......she was knowledgable and I so wanted to be like her.
She was what I aspired to in my nursing career. My role model.

I don't think I ever got to her standard, she remained my beacon throughout my time as a nurse.

I have never been one for hero worship.....but that was the closest I have come.
