High Street Names

I noticed that the Asda is doing a roaring trade according to a poll going on in another thread, they seem to take quite a percentage of money from the locals. Do Asda or any of the other "High Profile" names give anything back to Accrington by way of sponsorships? ie. help out with a local schools sports or music equipment, perhaps send hampers to a local care home.

Re: High Street Names

As a side note, I asked the question in the "where do you do your shopping" thread, I thought the question merited it's own thread.

I don't know if they donate to local schemes or charities, but they DO allow local organisations such as Brownies to earn money by packing bags at the checkouts.

I always decline their services as I prefer to pack my own, but always put a small donation in the bucket in an acknowledgement of the service offered. Asda score 10/10 for allowing this!

Not sure if they have official sponsorships but both Asda, Tesco, M&S and a few other stores always gave us something for the school's PTA raffle when we asked them.

When i used to do the quiz nights for my local school, asda, m&s, whsmiths, maccydees, cinema donated.

I got some quite good prizes writing off to people even got prizes from Bernie Ecclestone twice which we auctioned off instead of giving them as prizes in the raffle. Raised an extra £70 on them.
