Re: Hostel Landlord Jailed
Pandering to the 'needs' of drug addicts doesn't help'.
It just prolongs the agony.
Theirs, and ours.
The Maunday Grange isn't something for the town to be proud of.
Well meaning, but feeds the druggies' habits just as much as the dealers.
I'm glad the judge had more sense, and ignored Dorothy McGregor's plea that he should be saved jail.

Re: Hostel Landlord Jailed
Instead of sandwiches and a few quid, every time they pop into the Maunday Grange, someone should tell them to get their own act together, seek medical help to get off drugs, and start paying their way in society, like everyone else.
Users.
The clue is in the name.
If only the ever so caring, wooly, well meaning liberals would realise it.

Re: Hostel Landlord Jailed
I'm suprised they haven't been offered some of the offices on the top deck of the Market Hall. It would certainly have increased the footfall

The whole of that part of town has been Maundified.
I'm suprised H.B.C. aren't pushing it as a tourist attreaction.

Most if not all of them probably dont know the real meaning of Maundy. There is a blight there encouraged by do gooders when what is needed is a good kick to get them to sort themselves out. It might take longer to get of drugs than it did to get on them but they have to try. Its too easy for them to just wriggle out of making the effort and its the general public and theirs families that suffer. I am all in favour of helping people but they have also to be willing to help themselves as well. If not then they are a lost cause and a drain on what scant resources are available.

Yep, agree with that, its becoming a dodgey area to walk during the daytime near there now, but dont suppose anyone from Maundy considers the impact on most decent folk.
I've noticed on a few occasions a Nursing Sister coming out of Maundy so i'm assuming that drugs are perhaps administered there too!
Best Regards - Taggy

Re: Hostel Landlord Jailed
In the past I've been a big supporter of Maundy, think I'll have to reassess things after that

I think every-one was willing to give it chance like said in comments before but for it to bring this kinda behavior to Accy even in the daytime is totally unacceptable

Re: Hostel Landlord Jailed
maundy relief helped bring down accy on its knees the difference i found when moving to accy in 1991 and when i left 2008 is unbelievable and the council are mostly to blame as well.
1 supporting and encouraging maundy relief to expand attracting liverpools, manchesters and most of lancashire problems
2 bail hostel with the highest no of paedophiles
3.sally army down blackburn road way
4.letting every corrupt shady landlords get away with everything
5getting rid of the bike race
6.keep rebuilding over and over again in the same area
7. letting moorhead get away with anything without consulting local residents covering it up saying they were building a leisure centre in the grounds ie making the surrounding streets like a prison with 9 foot barred fences
8 letting dodgy shop keepers selling whatever thay want to whoever they want
labour or tory all are guilty never seen so many off linces in such a small vincinity the list is endless accy used to be brilliant but no more thats why i left.
