Re: hot x buns

I heard that the hot cross bun might be banned, but this was last year. I though that it was a "pith take" by the non-religious people or those who see the christian cross as offensive.

I hope its not true and this never comes about. Gowd ... its only a ruddy bun at the end of the day !

Re: hot x buns

Hot cross buns were first sold by street sellers in the nineteenth century to a special ditty. They were adopted as an Easter celebration, and have been so for nearly 200 years. Now some idiotic school teacher in Suffolk says they can only be eaten by the children in her school if the cross is removed. I think this is taking the ethnic minority situation too far.

Re: hot x buns

Your right grannyclaret it is PC gone mad. Ethnic minorities are allowed to wear different clothes on religious grounds, have 'special food' cooked for them in school, but it looks like Christian kids can't have a bun because of a cross. The PC crowd should be hauled before the courts for causing racial hatred. Most ethnic minorities couldn't care less what any one else eats as long as they don't have to.

Wasn't it some headmistress down sarf somewhere that decided to ban hot X buns from the school off her own bat. For once I don't think the politicians had a hand in it but it just goes to show that their pc brainwashing is working with those that cannot think for themselves.

An interesting side note regarding political correctness, according to yesterday's Observer BA cabin crew have been forbidden from wearing crucifixes on flights to Saudia Arabia, so they won't offend passengers.

Apparently this was a head teacher who said she had children in her school who are Jehova's Witnesses and they don't believe in celebrating Easter, the Cross or anything similar. Fine, they don't have to eat the buns do they? I think that woman, and those who think like her, is a trouble-maker trying to make a name for herself by being politically correct.

Re: hot x buns

It'll be Easter eggs next.

A mixture of pagan symbolism of rebirth, mixed with a representation of the stone being rolled away from Jesus's tomb in the garden of Gethsemane.

At least we won't have Cadbury's Creme Eggs in the shops on Boxing Day.
