Household Insurance

We all need it but I wonder how many of you lot are.

1. Paying over the odds.
2. Covered correctly
3. Not covered when you really should be or its silly not to be.

As I deal with it every day I do see all kinds of things.

Examples,

Banks can charge Easly twice as much as most brokers when it comes to Household Insurance, but still people believe that they have to have it tied into there mortgage?

How much do you think a 2 bed terrace house should be insured for?

Under insurance is a problem I see quite a lot, and this will cause people big headaches, (you only find out at the time of a usually large claim).

Believe it or not some people dont have there building insured, they own a property and dont have it insured . Or they have basic cover on contents and a ring worth £5000 that they think is covered ect.

Though I would put this up as I have see what problems, agravation it can cause when things go wrong. if this serves to help/remind one person then its served its purpose. + Im Bored.

Re: Household Insurance

Golden rule is for contents is to overestimate replacement value to take into account inflation and if new for old the cost of new.
Got 20k in the house the go 40k and there isnt much of a premium diference.

Contents isnt to bad TBH, its more buildings that get under-insured.

Id hope nobody has cover less than new for old (Reinstatement).

And yes a lot will give £40k standard.
