How competitive are you?
I've just been bowling with Chris, my Mother in Law and the kids. Now some people might think that it is a good idea to let the kids win to encourage them. There might be others who think it's a good idea to keep on the Mother in Law's good side by letting her win. NOT ME! I like to win!
.......and I DID!!!!!!

Gayle - I never ever play a game I don't want to win......what would be the point?

Re: How competitive are you?
If i've no chance of winning I don't play, if I'm not winning I will cheat, if I lose god help the person who beat me, now back to the arcade I have some unfinished business with Grannyclaret.

Re: How competitive are you?
I hate loosing.
I suppose one day I might actually do it, but then I'd just have to cope with the consequences if it ever happens.

Re: How competitive are you?
I don’t play games as such although I use to when I was younger. I don’t do things to compete in the traditional sense, like yesterday I knew that the conditions where not the best and certainly not in my favour, but I went on regardless, I got a bollocking for not when I got home but I find it difficult to back off from situations that basically come down to battles of will. A couple of years ago I set out against myself to stop smoking after 30 years and won, apart from two or three drags (best I ever had) last year I’ve never smoked since. I don’t think it’s very sensible or big, in fact it’s stupid, I’ve gone head long into situations that I shouldn’t have and not backed off when I should have, but I am talking about physical situations. Things like arguments I have little time for, if there’s something to be said get it done, puffing up and flashing your tail feathers just leaves people looking like silly. I don’t like people who play the game and cry foul when it doesn’t go their way, or people who resort to back handed tactics or bullying just to get the upper hand. However, I have a lot of time for those who fight on in the face of it and still maintain an air of dignity whatever the adversity. They don’t have to win to come out on top. They win regardless due to the spirit in which they competed.

Re: How competitive are you?
Is it wise or brave to go up mountains when conditions are bad? Very often it's the mountain rescue people who sadly end up looking like the loosers.

Re: How competitive are you?
I absolutely hate losing but if it does happen I don't sulk, I just apply myself better the next time. I definitely DO NOT let anybody win - even the kids.

My dad taught me how to play chess at a young age and never let me win. I have never forgotten that great feeling when I actually beat him for the first time after hundreds of games.
