Re: How long has he got?
Yes I am afraid it is in bad taste some people regard death and men of the Holy Cloth sacred and yes The Pope himself after years of illness may be glad to meet his maker when the moment comes but just switch on Sky News and look at the crowd at The Vatican that will mourn the death of this amazing man, let's walk among them and ask them to take bets on when he will eventually go.

Re: How long has he got?
Zindergirl asks “how on earth can you view this thread as bad taste?” There is a part of me which holds the view that if you need to ask why, it would be a futile waste of time to attempt to explain.
However, that part of me will just have to sit on its hands and fume in disgust while I make the following observations.
Throughout his life and his reign the Pope has attempted to provide for Catholics, Christians and the World a model for how a life should be lived and the value we should place on life. Often in the face of criticism and extreme personal danger. Catholic Dogma aside, this is, in itself, both remarkable and admirable.
It may seem curious to some for the Vatican, historically an organisation not known for its openness, to be broadcasting intimate medical details of the Pope’s decline into his terminal hours. It does this at the behest of the Pope himself as his final lesson on the sanctity of life and as a reminder to us that though the manner of approaching old age and death may sometimes be long, painful and distressing, it may still be accomplished with dignity and respect. In doing this, the Pope reminds us that the ending of a life is just as important a component of that life as it’s beginning or it’s middle.
In an age where respect for the elderly and terminally ill has never been at a lower ebb, this is a vital lesson. We are invited by the Pope to witness, as closely as possible, an event which, though it may be uncomfortable and distressing to many, is of direct relevance to each and every one of us.
The willingness to share the manner of what is a uniquely personal event with the whole of mankind should command universal respect. To canvas bets on the progress of the Pope’s decline is to trivialise it and worse, to slap a dying man in the face.

Re: How long has he got?
l too think this was in bad taste. l'm not a Catholic, and feel he has done some bad things as well as some good in his Papacy, but to guess at the time of someones death is just sick. He means a great deal to a lot of people, and for them it's a sad time. A friend of mine, also in her 80's is also dying at this time, it's no time for mirth and sick polls.
Why not start a poll about your own early death, if you're as big as your photograph suggests?

Was that aimed at me?
A few more members do not agree with comments made about this thread as they have voted from the last time i came on here last night.
Looks like this is a 50/50 topic that no-one will agree on.

Re: How long has he got?
Sorry Jason i think you do deserve the slagging off and when your time comes i hope nobody has a poll on how long you will fight to live.I have been through this twice and believe me its backing you need, not some sancrimonous idiot having polls on how long you have got to live.As far as i am concerned it is not about Religion here at all but about a human beings life.Enough said on the subject the d**k as you say is you

Re: How long has he got?
Nothing against anybody taking part in a poll.As for maturity i believe you need to look very closely to home here. The immaturity was in starting a poll on such a subject.A thing i would have expected from a child or juvenile, especially the way its been done.Surprised you have so much Karma left the way people react on the forum

Re: How long has he got?
Can I just say that we have had a look in the report section and there has only been one report on this thread, so it doesn’t really warrant us deleting or closing the thread? If there had been other reports from other members about this thread then we would have probably done something about it much earlier. If anyone is not happy with the content of a particular thread then please use the report button. We are here to help but if no one reports then things will be left to continue as we will assume that everyone involved is happy, one way or another. Only in certain circumstances will we moderate threads without the need of reports. If anyone starts a thread or poll and then decides it was a mistake they can always ask for it to be deleted by using the report button or by pming one of the mods
As for this thread, it shall remain closed because it brings Accyweb into disrepute.
