How Lovely!
I read today that they are about to change the name of Belfast City Airport. As from the day he would have reached his sixtieth birthday it will be known as 'George Best Airport'. It appears that there will be a ceremony on that date to honour one of the greatest footballers of our time. He had his problems but nothing can take that away from him......wish I could be there.
I think it's really brilliant.

Re: How Lovely!
I echo your sentiments junetta; I think it's a really good idea when a great individual with real talent is honoured in this way, much like Liverpool's 'John Lennon airport'.

Re: How Lovely!
A fitting tribute to a Belfast boy who made good. He may have had problems but that should not detract from the fact the guy was a genius.

Re: How Lovely!
I hope they do the same for the Krankies with Glasgow airport in the future.
Anymore ideas for name changes?
East Midlands becomes Crossroads International?

Re: How Lovely!
Gatwick should be 'Arthur Fowler Airspace'......with his allotment & collection of dented frying pans behind the hangars

Re: How Lovely!
With all due respect, Belfast renames its airport for a chronic alcoholic; Liverpool has already renamed its own for a foul-mouthed drug-addict; New York named an airport after an assassinated president who had illicit sex with more women than I've had hot dinners.
Before you jump for my throat, I liked George Best and John Lennon and Jack Kennedy (yeah, I actually remember him being elected), all heroes in their respective field, but it does make me think about idols with feet of clay.

Re: How Lovely!
OK, a despotic autocrat who never quite forgave the Allies for saving his country from Nazi domination. Well, he was French, after all.

Re: How Lovely!
When the time comes, and one hopes, for the sake of the borough, that it will be sooner rather than later, what item of the municipal infrastructure are we going to rename in honour of the Idiot-in-Chief, any suggestions?
